Ana M. Duarte, MD is the Chief and Director of the Children’s Skin Center. Dr. Duarte is board certified in both dermatology and pediatric dermatology. She is also fellowship trained in pediatric dermatology, one of only a few elite dermatologists who can claim this distinction. Dr. Duarte treats all skin conditions and disorders, specializing in treating vascular birthmarks and tumors, hemangiomas, and port wine stains.

Under Dr. Duarte’s direction, The Children’s Skin Center’s highly qualified team provides dermatology care that addresses the needs of each individual family member. With board certification in dermatology and pediatric dermatology, residency training in both dermatology and pediatrics, fellowship training in pediatric dermatology, and over 25 years of experience in the practice of dermatology and pediatric dermatology, Dr. Duarte is uniquely qualified to offer comprehensive skin care solutions for the entire family.

The Vascular Birthmarks Foundation’s 2016 Physician of the Year, Dr. Duarte also serves as the Director of Dermatology at Nicklaus Children's Hospital and at The International Birthmark Institute. Her role at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital affords Dr. Duarte operating room access as well as the support of this world-renowned pediatric hospital.

In our laser center, Dr. Duarte treats all types of vascular birthmarks such as port wine stains, hemangiomas, and other vascular lesions using the pulse-dye laser. She also treats surgical scars, dog bite scars, and keloids with the pulse-dye laser and fraxel laser. In addition, she uses the yag and alexandrite laser for hair removal. At both the Nicklaus Children's Hospital office and the Coral Gables office, she uses the excimer laser to treat psoriasis, vitiligo, eczema and other inflammatory skin conditions. Dr. Duarte uses the CO2 laser to treat epidermal nevi. We now offer skin tightening and resurfacing with the Morpheus radiofrequency micro needling device.

Dr. Duarte is a longtime resident of South Florida with a long history of caring for the community through philanthropy, patient care, and patient education. As a strong proponent of sun safety awareness, Dr. Duarte has partnered with schools, nonprofit organizations, and various media outlets to raise awareness about sun safety, skin cancer, bullying, and many other topics affecting children and families.
